September update!
Hi friends and family! We're now about a month into the school year, I'm starting to get a good idea of my routine, and relationship building has been really sweet and encouraging!
I've been continuing to learn so much in our apprentice classes, we are now in the minor prophets in the bible and I'm learning how the prophets were used to speak to the needs of the community while also being convicted themselves of how much they need God just as much as the people who they're speaking to. I love getting to learn so much context and depth from scripture in our masters-level textbook reading and lectures!
One of our student leaders, Leo (who is holding the sign here) initiated on his own, a time to outreach to students on campus and ask how we can be praying for things going on in their life. A few of our students in our ministry were able to join and this was such an encouraging experience where several students came up for prayer and some of them were also interested in getting more information about being part of our ministry! The leaders we have this year have been so initiative and excited to take part in all areas of our ministry and that's been a joy to see!
The first weekend of September was the first UNT football game and I got to help organize the people in our ministry who wanted to come and sit together! It was a great time!
This was at a ping pong after-event hosted by one of our guy ministry houses. We always have different events each week following our large group meetings! It was so much fun, I love getting to spend time with students outside of ministry settings getting to know them more, and this was one of those nights that was just full of joy! The weekly meetings we have are where we have worship, and a sermon with our whole ministry together. In our "Way of the Rabbi" sermon series several points stood out to me from last night's sermon that I wanted to share: "Look at your decision making habits and you'll know how much you believe in Jesus". "If we embraced God's call on moving toward Him, and shared that with people around us, especially the ones that are hardest for us to, our whole campus would be different and revival would occur".
Here is our student testimony of the month!
Further prayer requests:
-Please be praying for the students in our ministry to make it a priority to be consistent in being apart of community and that they wouldn't let their business become an idol preventing them from showing up.
-Pray for the students who are having one on one bible studies to have softened hearts to God's word and that it would impact them and move them to make changes in their lives in order to grow closer to Jesus.
Blessings and peace,
Keanna
